I was late for work.
My assignment was to cover a farmstead cheese tasting at a dairy in the back hills of Petaluma, CA. I was the official photographer for the Artisan Cheese Festival. And I often get lost looking for these dairies.
To make matters worse, it was a beautiful morning. Or sure, that sounds like a good thing, except when tempting scenes lure your to the side of the road to capture a frame or two.
I was using digital cameras for the event coverage. But I also packed my Contax T2 with a roll of Fujicolor 400. When I saw how the light was falling on this scene, I just had to pull over... late or not.
This rendering only lasted for a few minutes. Fortunately, I can work quickly with the T2. I set the aperture to f/8 and had time to record four frames. This one is my favorite.
As it turned out, I was only a little late to the event. And I didn't miss any important shots. But I would have missed one beautiful barn with a red roof had I not stopped.
